Liz's PhD is called Gateways and Gatekeepers: An examination of the issues facing people with episodic mental illness during transition to an emerging and evolving National Disability Insurance Scheme.

This research aims to create new knowledge in the field of consumer directed care by collecting empirical evidence regarding the accessibility and suitability of the NDIS for people with episodic conditions. Furthermore, findings highlighted in the research will endeavour to boost community sector viability and drive reform by; influencing policy decisions, building community sector knowledge and workforce development, ultimately advancing the position of those who experience societal disadvantage. The research may contribute to the body of knowledge in other international contexts and jurisdictions where consumer directed care strategies are also being explored.
