Nerkez Opacin is a PhD candidate exploring the role of peacebuilding education initiatives in post-war countries.

Nerkez’s PhD research explores the role of peacebuilding education initiatives in the process of dealing with the past, transitional justice and reconciliation among young people in post-war countries. Nerkez also works as a part-time program coordinator, lecturer/tutor, field adviser and young researcher for the Long Island University – Global Program (USA), RMIT University – Global Studies (AU) and the International University of Sarajevo – IR Program (BiH). Since 2014, he has been coordinating international summer schools and study trips that focus on experiential learning, aiming to engage and educate young people about the processes of post-conflict transitional justice, reconciliation and ‘dealing with the past.’
